Taskmaster Components Wins Wheel Caps AD/CVD Scope Inquiry
Mount Pleasant, TX — Trans Texas Tire, LLC (DBA: Taskmaster Components) led a scope ruling in February 2022 petitioning the U.S. Department of Commerce to exclude decorative wheel caps from the scope of their AD/CVD orders on certain chassis and sub assemblies from China. On July 5, 2022, the Commerce Department ruled in Taskmaster’s favor, allowing the import of decorative wheel caps without additional duties.
“This was an important ruling for the trailer industry,” says Amanda Walker, Taskmaster’s CEO, “we fought this because it is the right thing to do. We are concerned about the ability of the trailer industry to import products it needs in a legal, cost-effective way. Some hid imports with creative tariff codes; we went to the U.S. Department of Commerce and illustrated that our caps are not integral parts of the chassis, but are mportant to our boat trailer, utility trailer, and recreational vehicle manufacturers and end consumers that value aesthetics.”
Taskmaster Components has been part of multiple cases before the U.S. Dept. of Commerce in the past five years and has vowed to continue fighting for product variety in the industry and to make the trailer industry more accessible worldwide.
